Born December 26, 1913 in Kumamoto, Kataoka Kōro (Kataoka Fuyuko) studied Meian-ryū shakuhachi under Tsunoda Rogetsu I and had a career spanning more than 40 years. She belonged to the Meian Rogetsu-ha.
