Born November 21, 1943 in Okayama Prefecture, Iwasashi Kuzan (Iwasashi Komazō) studied Tozan-ryū shakuhachi under Shirakami Pōzan (Katō Seizan lineage). He became an instructor in 1965. He belonged to the Tozan-ryū Shakuhachi Okayama Prefecture branch and the Kurashiki Sankyoku Club.
